Follow the Truth

Do what you do and ignore what they say
You ain’t gonna make it anywhere, anyway
   But always follow the truth
I can hear your screams but I cannot feel your pain
Sorrow and joy, to me it’s all the same
   But always follow the truth.

Wherever you go, whatever you do, know that if you don’t do nothing else
I shall love you without cost or care
Deep within my heart.

My love for you extends farther than the seas
I can hear the voices calling me
Love me deep and love me wide, love me well from every side
Love me now and love forever more

I love you more and more every passing day
Love for you increases in every loving way, so,
Love me deep and love me wide, love me well from every side
Love me now and love forever more.

Sole Heir (To A Fortune)

You say it doesn’t matter but it comes again and then you will mean it
Those things that claim they’re new but then we all know that the who that has seen it
Your change is getting fatter, you say it doesn’t matter,
You’re not the Marshall Mathers it’s true,
You know you’re gonna suffer is the time to dive for cover
Cause it’s not me, it’s you!

You’re the sole heir to a fortune but this fortune will not last
You’re the sole heir to a fortune so you’d better get it fast
You’re the sole heir to my fortune, and this fortune is my heart
This is a limited time offer, so I guess you’d better start.
Yeah, I guess you’d better start.

You’re jumping back and forth from good to bad I know it’s faster than your mind
There must be someone else who takes control and causes you to be so kind
I see the conflict brewing, I see your thoughts are stewing,
But nothing you are doing to help
I know that you are hating but silently you’re praying
That someday this may all come to pass.

The lights are dim, the crowds are thin, and then with him you tell him your feelings
He tramples you, I told him to, so come to me for all of your healings
Take it by the pound, and hearing every sound,
We’re tearing all the cultural icons down
They all played the game, but they never felt the pain
Of living life with a frown!

Choices

Choices are a man’s best friend, you should know you can’t or can
Like a fool or like the wise, you know soon you’ll win the prize
Choose it right or choose it wrong, listen to this little song.
Once in a while life takes a turn, make your choice or you’ll get burned.
Life simply can’t stay the same, you can’t play your little game.

 Life really isn’t fair
Choose the good while you still can
And all things else will enter in.

It look like you’re in the dark, walking round with question marks
Who knew life could be that tough, choosing ‘tween the right and rough
Life just isn’t making sense, take your choice and make it hence.
It’s either this or that, you’re looking like a bureaucrat
Walking round in circles now, choose it, will you, once for all.

Harder than it sounds, choices are all around
Choose to eat or choose to sleep, you use your decision’s reap
Now it comes down to a choice, time to exercise your voice.
A simple yes would now suffice, but then you know, can’t choose it twice
All things equal, you must choose, if you don’t, you’re sure to lose.

 Life really isn’t fair
Please don’t play this little game that kills the brain and I’m insane
It’s not worth it to lose sweat on grounds that it is not important
 It is just another choice.

Can’t decide? We understand. Have it fresh or have it canned
Leg of lamb or piece of spam, tuna fish or slice of ham.
Soup du jour or chowdered clam, we like it all to a man.
Don’t like cheese? Well, that’s okay, you can have the fish filet.

I’ll have the chicken.

Carefree Day

There’s a place I like to go to hide away from all I know
There’s a stream running through the glade. I like to sit underneath the shade.

I’ve got nothing to do and nowhere to go
I’m just walking down an old country road
Flowers in bloom, humming a tune, nothing’s gonna stop me now
It’s just a carefree day, nothing’s doing anyway.

Then one day, to my surprise, a pretty sight fell before my eyes:
A girl, I didn’t know. Then I walked up and said hello.

 (Refrain One)
I found the one I want to take my heart away
This love, I’ve never felt. I hope it’s here to stay.

Everywhere the sun will shine, cause now I’ve found this girl of mine
I don’t need this lonely tree, for with her love she’s rescued me!

I’ve got something to do and someone to see
Now I’ve finally got someone who cares for me
I’m still walking down that old country road
But never again will I walk down that road alone.

Leningrad Anthem
(Based loosely upon the First Epistle of John, Chapters 2 & 3)

There they go, often seen them before
I wonder where and what they’re looking for
They’re searching high and low for something that can’t be found
If only they’d be silent, then they’d hear the sound.

The love that binds us all
Is what fulfills our deepest longing, but
Why must we search in vain for happiness?
Though, we all know, that love weaves our tapestries
 Tapestries

Here they are, often seen them before
I see them waiting, for something that’s in store
As if their lives are missing some true vital part
It’s as if they have bodies but they have no hearts.

Constant is confusion when we can’t see where to go
All we’re judged on is the volume of how much we know
How is this to show the love by which all humankind
Lives and thrives, for that’s the yearnings deep inside our mind.
 Tapestries

There they go, linked as never before
I wonder if they’re finding something more.
Loving our fellow men is not the reach of law
We must just love each other even as they fall.

Now it starts, watch the curtain rise
The love we’ve longed for is right before our eyes
As ever reaching for but always out of grasp,
This is the kind of thing that will forever last.

Often times in this life we lose sight of those that count
Looking for an answer as our losses always mount
We are blinded to the reason for this sad distress
Loving one another we can all escape this mess.

Gone

Where are you going, why can’t I follow to the other side forever
I must confess, I don’t want you to leave me. What will I do without you?

I lie awake here, staring at the ceiling
And I see your face within the stars of night
You mean more to me than all the riches of the world
And you’re gone, gone, gone.
